Automatic Shared Memory Management (ASMM)
For example if sga_target is set to
8g and db_16k_cache_size is set to 1g, then the total
size for the four auto-tuned components is limited to 7g. The
7g size includes the fixed SGA and log buffer, and only after
those have been allocated is the rest of the memory divided
between the auto-tuned components.
A list of parameters
and their values
can be accessed using the
v$parameter view.

about using memory advisor through OEM
will be presented in
the next section.
Using Memory Advisor through
OEM
The Memory Advisor can be used only when
the automatic memory tuning is disabled. This will help to tune
the size of memory structures. The Memory Advisor has three
advisors that give recommendations: Shared pool in SGA;
Buffer Cache in SGA;
and PGA.
To use Memory Advisor and tune its
underlying structures, do the following steps:
1. Click on Memory Advisor in the Advisor
Central Page.

The Memory Parameters
page: The
SGA page appears. This page has all the details on memory
usage for the System
Global Area. The shared pool and buffer cache are part of the
SGA. For more information on the structure shown here, click on
Help.
