Challenging the Defamers
The following is a sample libel demand letter:

Re: Defamation
Dear Ms. Badvibe:
We are legal counsel to Mr. Joe Dogood. In
that connection, we are in possession of a copy of the article
written by you and published in xxx.
We have reviewed the article and discussed its
contents with our client. We believe the article contains damaging,
false statements about Mr. Dogood, and it misquotes Mr. Dogood in a
manner that places him in a false light. As such, the article may
form the basis of a defamation claim against you.
We
also understand from Mr. Dogood that you have threatened to “put
Dogood out of business.” Please be advised that we and Mr. Dogood
take these threats seriously and will use whatever legal means
necessary to protect Mr. Dogood’s reputation, including filing suit
to recover any damages caused by defamatory statements made by you
or others.
