Web Conspiracies
The web has made it incredibly easy for those
with similar malice to join forces against an individual. For
example, participants in a web forum may conspire to defame someone
by using the forum as a platform for attacks against them or
conspiring to harass them.
The web provides immediate communications
worldwide, and one can often see how these criminal websites are
used for illegal purposes.
Whenever a web forum is used as a
communications device to violate the rights of innocent people, they
can be prosecuted under the U.S. Communications Decency Act:
“It is the policy of the United States – to
ensure vigorous enforcement of Federal criminal laws to deter and
punish trafficking in obscenity, stalking, and harassment by means
of computer.”
Criminal Conspiracies on the
Web
Crooks and scammers are using the web with
increasing boldness and using the fast worldwide communications of
the Internet to facilitate crimes, great and small. The following
are actual samples of postings from message board criminal
conspiracies, this one for Felony Grand theft:
”That’s a ridiculous price. Now, I'm
absolutely NOT telling you to do this!!! (wink), but you should go,
quietly, at night, and just take it.
It is then up to her to prove it is her
property. She has no proof of ownership and, possession is still
9/10 of the law.
BUT I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT YOU
SHOULD DO BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL!!!“
