The downside to having longer passwords with
more different characters is that they are more difficult to
remember. A password that is not easily remembered will probably be
written down and stored near the computer. A hacker then only needs
to snoop around the workstation to find the note, and eureka, they
have access.
The keys to selecting safe passwords are as
follows:
Forget Logins
Most on-line account log-in routines will
provide the user with the option of having the system remember their
password. This results in the user not having to enter their
password the next time they log into the account. As illustrated
below, these password memory features can be configured to user
preferences.
