Methods to Maintain Privacy
Riverdeep Interactive Learning is one company that
produces products designed to help users heighten their security
posture. Among Riverdeep’s offerings is Identity Theft Protector™,
sold under the Broderbund brand name. This program features a
user-friendly interface that makes it a good choice for less
experienced computer users. As an added bonus, the cost of the
program is very reasonable.
Another company with products along the same
lines is Anonymizer Inc. While Riverdeep offers products in many
areas, Anonymizer specializes in privacy software. Anonymizer
allows a user to navigate the Internet privately and securely, keep
the user’s IP address hidden, encrypts all Internet communication
and removes unwanted spam e-mail.
Lance Cottrell of Anonymizer, Inc explains in
layman’s terms how their privacy service works:
“It takes all of the traffic you have going to
the Internet, web browsing, e-mail and rather than have your
computer send it directly to the Internet, goes to the Anonymizer
network where it is mixed with the traffic of 2 million other active
users and hidden behind other domain names that are changed.
This prevents web sites that you go to from
knowing who you are or geographically where you are in the world, or
even that you are using Anonymizer”.
These are just a few of the companies who sell
products for privacy maintenance. There are many others, so do some
research and find what works best. In addition, The Electronic
